Zombies Hi Part 8

It's finally finished and one week from today (April 3rd), Zombies Hi Part 8 will be seeing the light of day!

Promo piece designed by moi and featuring the artwork of Damien Duncan, who makes me want to eat my pencil sharpener he's so talented.

I've already gone over the challenge of inking this issue, as well as pencilling it; I've also posted a rundown of creating the limited edition print we're giving away with pre-orders of the issue, so rather than bore you with a rehash of those posts, I'll just inadvertently promote them... oh wait.

Seriously though, this is my livelihood so I'm kind of obliged to pimp my wares a little, as irritating as that might be for both of us.

I have a tendency to dislike a lot of what I've drawn no more than five minutes after putting the pencil down but, that said, I'm quite proud of a lot of what I achieved with this upcoming issue of Zombies Hi:

I not only penciled, but I inked the issue, which is a first for me.  Also, as an update to my previous posts on the topic, I switched from digital inks to using my pens after creating the Steph print: that experience gave me a little more confidence to go traditional with the inks and I'm happy with the results.  So much so that I'm stumping up for some dip pens for my next attempt at inking.
If you happen to pick up an issue of the comic, I'd be interested to see if you can tell which pages were inked traditional, and which were digital.  There's no prizes for this, of course, just the opportunity to burst my bubble in spectacular fashion (that's no an innuendo).

As well as handling the illustration duties on the issue, I also helped writer Danny McLaughlin out with the script, suggesting edits etc, a lot of which made it into the final draft of the script.  It's been a busy few months at Uproar Comics, balancing various projects, so we all chipped in to keep things moving.  I enjoyed the opportunity to jump in on the writing aspect as well as the illustration, hopefully if this issue goes down well, I'll take another stab at it in the future!

Anyway, this is enough text without pictures so here's a glimpse at the artwork for the first two pages (inks and completed pages) of Zombies Hi Part 8: Dead On Arrival.

Zombies Hi Part 8 is released next week (April 10th) but you can pre-order it now from the Uproar Comics Online Shop and get a digital copy of the comic as well as the printed copy and the limited edition print of Steph from Creator Owned Day, all for the regular issue price of £3.50*.
*UK Delivery costs £1 (International Rates also available at the checkout).

That's not a bad deal, get it on it quick before next week when the offer will expire!

If you've read this far it probably marks the third time somebody has done it, after I proof read it twice.

Take it easy,
RuairĂ
